Emsculpt: How to Grow Your Glutes

Emsculpt: How to Grow Your Glutes

Bring Your Booty Back!

If you are looking to tone up, gain muscle, and burn fat in a targeted area, Emsculpt is an incredible option. Throughout this blog post, I will answer all your questions about using Emsculpt to help grow your glutes and tell you firsthand about my experience.

Spoiler: I love it.

Why Emsculpt?

Everyone has different goals when it comes to their body, but I was particularly interested in Emsculpt because of how it targets a specific area without growing surrounding muscles. I played soccer for 12 years and have always been quad dominant. Because of the imbalance between strong quads and calves and weak hamstrings and glutes, I have struggled with knee pain for years.

Trainers and doctors have told me to focus on growing my glutes to help with this imbalance and reduce knee pain, so that has been my recent goal in the gym. The issue is, whenever I do exercises that are supposed to focus on the glutes, such as hip thrusts or single leg kickbacks, I feel it in my quads. I was constantly asking myself, “how do I grow my glutes, but not my quads?”

Well, I finally found the answer. Emsculpt offered the perfect solution.

Before & After

Emsculpt was so easy and rewarding!

My glutes have never been so lifted.

How does Emsculpt work?

The treatment itself is super quick and easy. For glutes, the machine has two wands, which are placed on the areas where all three glute muscles (maximus, medius, and minimus) meet. You lay down the entire time and relax as the machine stimulates muscle contractions.

The gals at Beauty at the Bay were so calming and informative throughout the process. They described how everything works and explained that for the glutes setting, the machine is programmed to focus more on gaining muscle in the area and less on burning fat. This is different from areas like the abs and arms because people tend to want more fat burning in those areas.

The machine goes through three different cycles of contractions. The first is a warm-up contraction that stimulates the muscles every few seconds. The second cycle is similar to the first, but it stimulates the muscle longer and slightly harder each time. The third cycle is a tapping sensation and is meant to be a break for your muscles, helping to reduce lactic acid build up.

Fun Fact:

Emsculpt uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy to trigger 20,000 supramaximal contractions in 30 minutes - that’s like doing 20,000 squats!

How does Emsculpt feel?

To be honest, I was nervous about how it would feel to have my muscles contracted involuntarily. But I promise, it was a great experience. The very first set of contractions felt a little foreign, but the nurse at Beauty at the Bay was so reassuring and I quickly got used to it. In one session, I even fell asleep!

The machine has adjustable levels of intensity, ranging from 1% - 100% and the nurses at Beauty at the Bay make sure you are at the right level based on the way it feels for you. They are all very reassuring and comforting and ask you how the contractions feel throughout the procedure on a scale from 1-10, 1 being “I barely feel it” and 10 being “I feel it too much.” They like you to stay between a level of 7 or 8, which looks different for everyone.

I had worked out my glutes at the gym the day before my first session, so I stayed around the 30-40% intensity range that first day. When I came back three days later for my second session, I wasn’t sore and comfortably stayed in the 60-70% range. I really appreciate that the machine tailors to your comfort level, but I would also personally recommend not coming in sore.

How quickly do you see results?

Most people purchase packs of 4-6 sessions and book a treatment every 2-3 days, so the entire process takes about two weeks. For me, there was a very noticeable difference after 6 sessions—both in aesthetics and physical strength. My glutes looked fuller, especially near the top, but also, I noticed that I was able to lift heavier in the gym and my knee pain was reduced. I cannot say enough good things about Emsculpt and the results that I have seen.

To continue to see results throughout the year, it is reccomended to schedule one follow up appointment per month. You can think of it like working out. If you were to work out every day for a month, got great results, and then stopped going to the gym, you'd lose that muscle growth over time. Emsculpt works similarly becuase each treatment is essentially an extremely effective workout of a targeted area.

What are the benefits of Emsculpt?

Being able to target my glutes to reduce knee pain was enough to sell me on Emsculpt, but there are a lot of additional benefits. Some include:

  2. Targeted Muscle Growth
  3. Reduced Fat
  4. Non-Invasive Procedure
